Cameron Gessner has officially wrapped up the season with all three available championships under his belt. Cameron had already secured the Comp Cams Sprintcar Series Championship before last night’s event even started, but had to do well last night to hang on to the MSAQ Club Championship and the illustrious Car Owners Championship for Paul Gislingham and his Energy Motorsports team. Cameron held a strong lead in all championships going into last night’s racing, but was determined to finish the season not only atop the championships podium, but also get yet another Comp Cams Round victory to his name. Cameron won last night’s 25-lap A-Main from Andrew Scheuerle and Darren Jensen completing the top three. |

Brisbane International Speedway last night hosted the re-running of round 8 of the Comp Cams Sprintcar Series after the original attempt in early March was abandoned prior to the feature events due to persistent rain. Peter Thorley took the win last night in a remarkable drive from the B-Main with (Vic) Grant Anderson and (NSW) David Doherty joining him on the podium. Series leader Cameron Gessner was fourth with Andrew Scheuerle rounding out the top five to stay in the championship running on a night where double points were on the line. |

Comp Cams Round 11 at Brisbane International Speedway last night saw Andrew Scheuerle take the feature race win from Ian Loudoun (NSW) and Darren Jensen with team-mates Todd Wanless and Peter Thorley rounding out the top five. It also saw both Melissa Boyes and Niall Chandler taken to the PA hospital after separate incidents in the B-Main, while earlier in the night Adam MacKenzie and Aaron Finglas both had massive flips that ended their night of racing. |

There was no doubt last night’s finale of the 2008 Queensland Sprintcar Title (at Brisbane International Speedway) was going to be a full-throttle, action-packed edge-of-your-seat thriller. And the boys (and Melissa) sure didn’t disappoint. |

The 2008 Queensland Sprintcar Championship kicked off at Brisbane International Speedway last night and with 38 cars turning up to try their luck there was never any doubt it would be an exhilarating night of fiercely competitive racing action. And they sure didn’t disappoint. Darren Jensen walked away from the night with the Preliminary A-Main win under his belt and his position in the A-Dash event securely locked in. |

Thirty Sprintcars converged on Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway for the first Annual Crispy Memorial Classic, run in memory of the late Greg ‘Crispy’ McLennan who passed away back in February. Cameron Gessner was the happy winner of the night’s feature event, with the Gessner family all very proud to have their name on the perpetual shield that will next year be passed on to the next Crispy Memorial Classic winner. |

Congratulations to Dave and Aysha on their recent engagement. Dave, who has been pit crew for Wayne Lemon and in more recent times has been assisting MSAQ officials in their stewarding duties, couldn’t wipe the grin from his face. The happy couple will have their engagement party in August when they return from the USA with a wedding planned for late March 2009. |

Carnage and chaos reined supreme at Brisbane International Speedway last night for Round 10 of the Comp Cams Sprintcar Series. Some 32 cars turned up for the event and one last look at BIS before the Queensland Championship, to be held at the venue in a fortnight. Now firmly entrenched in the closing stages of both the Comp Cams Series and the MSAQ Club Championship, it was almost a case of ‘do or die’ for some drivers, desperate to gain points and climb the Championship ladder. The trail of debris and broken race cars tells a sad story of bitter disappointment and plenty of repairs to do before racing commences in Toowoomba next Saturday night. Ultimately it was Andrew Scheuerle who came out of the night with a feature win under his belt, with young James McFadden squeezing past Cameron Gessner to secure second with Comp Cams Series leader Gessner filling the final podium position. |

Congratulations to Sharon and Mark Pholi on the arrival of their third son, Ethan Glen, born just last weekend. Little Ethan enjoyed his first night of Sprintcar racing at only 8 days old and was no doubt the youngest Sprintcar fan on the hill last night. Ethan is a brother to Tyler and Jayden. |

Sprintcars returned to Brisbane International Speedway last night for round 9 of the Comp Cams Sprintcar Series and with the series edging ever closer to the end things are starting to get interesting. An impressive line-up of 30 cars gathered for what would turn out to be a exhilarating, heart-pounding, nail-biting night of spectacular racing action. Coming off a reasonably successful run at the Easter Trail, Andrew Scheuerle stepped up to the plate and was clearly the front runner all night. But it was not meant to be and with both Andrew and cousin Cameron Gessner out of the A-Main event after only eight laps, Darren Jensen inherited the race lead and drove the race of a lifetime to hold off Ben Wright (substituting for Garry Brazier in the #95 racer) in a race to the chequered flag that will go down in history as one of the most memorable and exiting finishes seen at BIS for quite some time. Todd Wanless drove a magnificent race to claim third after working his way from the B-Main. |
